February 2010

So on we go assuming we’re totally incapable of possessing any positives, and our personal net worth remains at absolute zero…thrown right in the old self-esteem dumpster. And our thoughts, feelings, and behavior chronically display, and all the more feed, our destructive self-deception.

Is there really any wonder why someone dealing with depression, anxiety, and chronic-stress might just have a rock-bottom self-image? Needless to say, given what we’ve experienced in our lives, and often endure on a daily basis, we aren’t likely to think a whole lot of ourselves. And these feelings compound on a daily basis.

First of all, for most group health plans, the law went into effect January 1, 2010. And the reason I say “most” is because the law technically goes into effect upon the first renewal of a group health plan on or after October 3, 2009.

Here’s the big picture…

Headaches. “The tension mounts!”

by Bill February 18, 2010

As if we didn’t already know, but science has taken note of the relationship between depression, anxiety, and headaches. And it’s one of reciprocating impact. For example, within the context of depression, headaches may be a symptom; and dealing with frequent headaches exacerbates a depressive mood. Unfortunately, no one knows for sure just why these relationships exist, other than speculating on the role of common neurotransmitters…serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine.

Panic Attacks & Fear: A Clanging of Cymbals? (part dos)

by Bill February 16, 2010

Within the context of our smoking engine scenario (part uno), I would propose that a suspect belief system, as well as associated dysfunctional reactions, may be driven by assorted unconscious issues symbolized by the smoking engine. Much of this is based in rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT).
