A new study of brain activity in those enduring depression and anxiety indicates some of the ill effects of depression are modified, for better or for worse, by anxiety. Hmmm – this could be interesting. We certainly know depression and anxiety all too often co-exist. And we know the anxiety piece can make depression so much more difficult to tolerate. But what about the “for better” part?

Panic Attacks & Fear: A Clanging of Symbols? (part uno)

Instead of finding relief for fear and its fallout in the immediate, she was proposing a permanent solution by identifying the deepest and truest foundation of my fears. In theory, if I was able to secure that identification, process it, and resolve it, I’d in effect be “cured.”

Anxiety is depression is anxiety. Lessons from a mighty email…

“Hello, I was wondering if you could help me…I am 21 years old. I suffer from an extreme case of depersonalization and panic…my whole life I have. I remember when I was 5 years old dealing with it…it feels like you’re not really living. It is triggered by thought because suddenly my mind will repeat…I’m not here…why on earth would I ever conjure up that idea?”
