Well, here we are, smack-dab in the middle of that annual transition from what was to what is – and what may be. Version 2016.17. “I can’t wait to nail my resolutions.” “Meh, whatever.” “I absolutely can’t bear the thought of another year.” So many feelings, so many expressions…
Take heart. No matter how horrible and hopeless you perceive your circumstances to be, they’re manageable – and you can move-on with a meaningful, productive, and powerful life.
Sure I want those things for you. Heck, I want ’em for me (though I’m not especially big on resolutions). But the blanket “rah-rah” routine isn’t my style.
Okay, so that “PERSONAL Message.” Here we go…
I’ve been on this planet for 62 years, and I’ve danced with the mood and anxiety disorders for the vast majority of them. Even two-stepped with alcohol dependence.
There were times I was so stunned and lost that not only did I not know how to get out of the woods, I didn’t know it was even possible. Didn’t even think about it anymore.
Have you felt that way? Maybe you do now.
You know, I really wouldn’t have the right to address your pain, and how to contextualize it, had I not hurt so badly that tears were flowing from my every pore.
Well, I have. So I will.
Take heart. No matter how horrible and hopeless you perceive your circumstances to be, they’re manageable – and you can move-on with a meaningful, productive, and powerful life.
Don’t tell me you can’t, because I’m living what I’m imparting.
And what does it take?
Well, indicated portions of insight, acceptance, vision, creativity, counsel, empathy, resolve, resilience, and love. And anything else you can muster.
You can do it. Absolutely, you can do it.
You might say, “Well, I guess I have no choice, Bill.” Actually, you do. By choice, you can do nothing about your circumstances and watch your life wither-away like that once-beautiful and vital plant nobody watered.
But you don’t want that, right? No, of course not…
So don’t let it happen. Roll-up your sleeves and get after what ails you.
Come on!
Hey, wishing you the very best for the new year. And I thank you with all of my heart for your readership throughout 2016. Please continue, okay? I’ll make it worth your while…
Bill
