Seems like the world’s gone crazy, doesn’t it? A resurging virus, tightening pandemic restrictions, TikTok challenges – are you kidding me? Well, it’s a special week for many, so amid the tumult I’m sharing a simple message of hope…
We can’t allow misinterpretation, catastrophizing, and overreaction to take us to depressed, anxious, and desperate places.
Is it any wonder it feels like the world’s gone crazy?
But you know what? It’s gonna’ be alright.
Now, you may be saying to yourself, “How do you know, Bill?” Fair question. Let’s just say at sixty-seven years old I’ve been through many “the world’s gone crazy” times. To name a few…
The Cuban Missile Crisis, the assassination of President Kennedy, the Vietnam War, violent reactions to the civil rights movement, the assassinations of Dr. King and Senator Kennedy in the same year, the 1970s gasoline shortage, the September 11 attacks
All of them – and the times – indeed qualify for “the world’s gone crazy” status. And keep in mind, event overlap made matters worse.
Bottom line: though there was significant loss of life, as well as lives forever altered, as a society we survived.
Life went on.
I know these are terribly trying and scary times. And I know hope may be perceived as distant, if not non-existent. However, we can’t allow misinterpretation, catastrophizing, and overreaction to take us to depressed, anxious, and desperate places.
Life truly does go on.
Yes, sure seems like the world’s gone crazy. But it’s gonna’ be alright. Take a look, even Santa knows it.
Peace and hope to all…
